The Canberra Dragon Flyers have a broad mix of members, of all ages and from all walks of life, who come together to compete in racing, relish the opportunity to get a bit of exercise out on the Lake and enjoy each others company in what is a real team sport.

The fame of the Flyers is spreading. Following our initial coverage in the September issue of the Vikings Newsletter the Chronicle has also recorded the exploits of the Flyers - Oct 6 edition.

Classic quotes abound in the article, such as the "...the Flyers are a 'special' bunch of men and women..." - but it is good publicity and shows the rest of the public what they're missing out on.

Macau - It's On!

The Flyers Grandmasters Womens team are at the 7th Club Crew Championships, being held on the Nam Van Lakes in Macau. They're pumped, taking on the world's best.

The racing's been tough - check out the News Page for the latest results. The times for the 200m races makes your eyes water.

ACT Dragon Flyers Annual General Meeting

The Flyers will be holding their AGM on 28 August - venue to be confirmed.

All Flyers should try and make it, to what is an important event for the Flyers. This is where you get to here from the Committee about the year that has been, and what is planned for the coming year. Nominations for positions on the Committee will called for shortly.

The newest CDBA Life Member - Tarquin Ralph

At the CDBA Award night on 28 May, the CDBA, in recognition of his long-standing and tireless efforts to support dragon boating in the ACT, conferred Life Membership on Tarquin Ralph. See the News page for a copy of his citation.

2010 Nationals - the Wash Up

Well it's all over for another year. Tales will be told, songs sung and photo's emerge to describe the Flyers efforts in Adelaide. Highlights of the event included many Flyers in the ACT Grand Master Women's team picking up a silver medal, the Premier Mixed team (pictured below) making it through to the Semis and being placed 18th in the country.

But there were also some low lights. Despite what you say, some people don't know when to stop!
